The Icelandic Diving Service provides a service in vibrocoring and bottom sampling, using a Rossfelder VT-4 vibrocorer with a 6 m long corepipe, and with Shipek sediment grabs. The company will also assist in the analysis of cores and bottom samples, with description, grain size analysis, chemical analysis, etc. The company has in recent years provided this service in many places in Iceland, in addition to the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Vibrocoring serves an important purpose in confirmation, and extension of seismic results.
In Iceland, vibrocoring has proven important in various fields of research. Maërl resesarch in NW-Iceland and mapping of construction materials in SW-Iceland have benefitted greatly from vibrocorer data.
